…at least for a little while, that is. I owe money to my book of the month club. Darn it! It seems like I can never make all my bills at this time of the year. And so many pop up out of nowhere. You remember, though, that book club that I just couldn’t resist joining? Well, so many expenses surprise us at this time of year, that I didn’t have enough to pay that bill. Thank goodness it’s not a wine of the month club - then I might really not be able to pay it! I’m sure I’ll catch up after the holiday craziness! I have to have my book club access!! There is nothing sweeter than the mailman bringing me a new book - with it’s crisp, white pages, and un-cracked spine - I get all trembly just thinking about it! Haha!

That is the name of my new book. Yep, I got another new book in the mail from my new book club. The subtitle is ‘A Curious Tale of How Magic is Transforming America’ and the author is Christine Wicker. (She used to write for The Dallas Morning News - I like her already!)
Anyway, she travels around the country exploring various mystical and sometimes even taboo subjects and how they are emerging in American culture today. She investigated the voodoo temples of New Orleans, witches’ covens of Salem, a graveyard in North Florida and much more! I wonder if she’ll have any warnings for me about buying Arizona real estate!
I don’t know, but, it is just one of the many books that surrounds me that I can’t wait to dig into! It would be cool if we got snowed in for two weeks or something like that! Ha!

Oh yeah! Oh yeah! I got a book in the mail yesterday! I’m so excited - I’ve wanted this book for a really long time! I finally got:
I can’t wait to just really dig into this book - I wish I could just stop everything, get cozy on the balcony, and just read. But then there’s that thing called life that I have to attend to. Darn.
The funny thing about it, though - is that I ordered this book from one of my book clubs. Well - that part isn’t funny, the part that is funny is that I ordered it from The Quality Paperback Book Club and ….you guessed it! It’s a hard back. That’s a little strange, but, I guess it will do!
I have another book coming from the other book club, too. I just love getting surprises in the mail - especially when they’re books! I know, I know, it’s not really a surprise if I ordered it! But after a long day of blogging …and the hassles of life …and screaming kids - it sure feels like a surprise when the mailman knocks on the door!

Oh Mrs. Lisa, you didn’t.
Yes, I did.
They are so hard to resist, with all of their pretty catalogs, in which they tell us all about all of their pretty books. I’m telling you, resistance is futile. Just futile.
Do you remember last year when I asked you if you thought my new book club would mind my borrowing a great quote from them? Oh, it was a great quote, too! I think I’m going to put it in the sidebar, along with the picture of my public library’s sign. I think that’s a fabulous idea!
Well, anyway, it was about that time that I had joined that book club - Quality Paperback Club - I really like that one, as I love paperbacks! And knowing that every single book that I get from them is going to be paperback is great! You know how a lot of times when ordering books online, it’s hard to tell if the books are hardback or paperback. So that is a good thing.
Ok, so do you remember my telling you in the summer about how I’m going to get so smart? Well, I keep getting behind in that book and forgetting to read it every day! I think instead of a one-year book, it is going to be a four-year book, at the rate I’m going. And the other one that came with it - I am way behind on, too! So would that lead you to believe that I needed to join another book club? Well, no - probably not.
But, I did just that. And this book club is cool because it operates just like Netflix. And it’s got such a cute name! It’s called zooba! Not that I would join it just for the cute name, but, stuff like that can draw a person in, you know! Anyway, I added a bunch of books that I liked into my book list and each month, they will ship out one book to me! That is totally groovy! And - it’s only $9.95 per book - every time - with no shipping charge - every time!
Now are you getting why I just couldn’t resist?
I signed up for some really great books for the kids and I can just put them aside for Christmas! (The first book that’s shipping is for me, though!) ![]()
But the really cool thing is that I joined the book club through MyPoints.com, so I’ll receive points for having joined! I’ve been a member there for over four years - I just LOVE that program! And I’ve almost gathered enough points this time for a $50 gift certificate at Amazon, which I will probably turn around and use on more Christmas gifts for the kids. And we all know what that most likely means I’ll buy them - books!
If you’d like to join MyPoints, and you want to be really sweet and join under me (so I’ll get points for your joining!) send me an email request and I’ll send you an invitation!

I am so excited - I got two of the coolest books in the mail from my book club. I actually hadn’t ordered them, but, I had forgotten to turn in the ‘I don’t want any books this month’ paper - so there they were in my mailbox. And I don’t recall if I had chosen categories with my membership or not, but, I love these books they sent me! I opened the package, without knowing what the books were, because, I was hoping they were novels, because I was going on a trip back home to Texas and thought it might be nice to have a couple of novels with me. Well, they weren’t novels - but, they are totally awesome books!!
I promised my son that I would help him with his MySpace template, so I’ve got to go do that, but, then I’ll come back and tell you all about my new books!
GO READ A BOOK!

…my stealing a line from them? It’s just a cute little tagline in the sidebar of one of the catalogs…
And it is way too cool to just be sitting there quietly in the catalog, rather than having it SHOUTED from the bloggy mountaintops!
Here it is:
~~~Reading is a gift. Give it.~~~
Isn’t that just great??? I, personally - LOVE IT!!
And from the mountaintops - I shall SHOUT it!
I do have a mountain right beside my house, actually. And the road you take to the top is called…dun dun dun….Mountain Street.
Perhaps the mountain outside my window needs to be annointed, too - now that the Bloggy Mountain has been annointed.
Bloggy Mountain - I think I like that, too!
But…
~~~Reading is a gift. Give it.~~~
That - is pure class! Through and through!
Now,
